Tracing The History Of Your House - How-To Month

Your house has a past! You probably have heard the expression “if these walls could talk.” Becky Hill, head librarian of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, is the instructor for this program that will show you how to find what your walls could say. Hill will explain how to use printed and online sources to get to the root of your home’s past. She will guide attendees in identifying prior owners of structures, as well as the history of the properties. Among the available reference materials Hill will discuss are deeds, Sanborn maps, city directories and tax records. Preregistration required.
