Black History Month Film Series - The Color Purple (1985)

A black Southern woman struggles to find her identity after suffering abuse from her father and others over four decades. Based on the novel by Alice Walker, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, is 2 hours and 34 minutes in length and has a rating of PG 13 for sexual situations, violence and language.
