The Story Of The People Of Lorain, The International City - International Month

How does a place get to be known as an "International City"? What are the fundamentals that are mixed together to create a successful melting pot? The answer - the people! From the early Anglo-Saxon settlers, to Eastern/Southern European immigrants, Black Americans, and later Hispanics - all who came together to create a unique and special home for their families in the city of Lorain, Ohio. Come along with us as we look back at how a village at the mouth of the Black River was transformed by its people into a distinctive and exceptional multinational community - an "International City". Presented by David Simmer of the Lorain Historical Society.
