Toni Morrison Poetry Contest
Calling all poets! Students in grades 6 - 8, 9 - 12, and college students living in or attending an educational institution in Lorain County are welcome to participate in our 2024 Toni Morrison Poetry Contest by submitting one original poem, in free or formal verse with a maximum of 40 lines beginning on November 1, 2023.
To enter our poetry contest, please send your poem to lorainpoetry@lpls.info. The process for submission is: In the body of the email, paste your poem (no attachments); list your legal name; pen name (if applicable); school grade or college level; name of school; home address; phone number; and email address.
The deadline for submission is midnight December 9, 2023. Prizes will be awarded. All prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Lorain Public Library.
All entrants will be invited to attend our Open Mic Poetry Event in February where our Toni Morrison Poetry Contest winners will be announced. If unable to attend, your poem will be read by the MC at the event and arrangements will be made for you to receive your prize. We look forward to reading your original poetry!
