LPLS Friends Book Sale Donation Guidelines
The Avon Branch is unable to accept donations during renovation.
The Friends thank you for your generous and consistent donations of quality books to our book sales! Donated books play an important role in the success of our book sales as they are the sole fundraisers for our groups. Proceeds from the sales are utilized for funding programs, equipment and library enhancements.
While we are so appreciative of the donation, the Friends reserve the right to refuse donations that do not meet the established criteria. Unacceptable materials received in donations must be discarded at the library's expense.
All LPLS Friends Groups Will Accept:
Gently used fiction and nonfiction hardcover and paperback books in good condition
Gently used DVDs in good condition in their original case
Gently used music CDs in good condition in a plastic case or CD sleeve
If they are less than two years old:
Test prep books
Health or medical books
The Avon, Columbia and Lorain Friends Will Also Accept:
Gently used puzzles and games if they are not missing any pieces
LPLS Friends Groups Will Not Accept:
Books or other items that are soiled, musty, moldy, have smoke, water and/or insect or animal damage, excessive highlighting or writing in the text, or damaged books with broken bindings or missing pages or covers.

Homemade copies of movies, music or software.
Procedure for Donating:
Bring items to be donated in bags or boxes marked “Friends” to the circulation desk of your local branch during regular library hours. We cannot return plastic bins, containers, boxes or tote bags.
Please note, neither library staff nor Friends members can assist in transporting donations from your vehicle into the library, however, carts are available.
Home pick-up of donations is not available.
All LPLS Friends groups will accept donations to their home branch any time except for one week before and one week after a book sale, or as space allows. For book sale dates, please see the Friends section of that branch’s webpage.
