Untitled #6

Monday September 7, 2026. My name is Josh. You are currently reading my journal. I’ve started recording things here because I’m noticing things. People seem less emotional when talking about sensitive topics. I don’t see anyone walking their dogs anymore. My neighbors don’t wave. Something is definitely off…

Tuesday September 8, 2026. Things are still strange. I went to the grocery store today and nobody talked to each other. The cashier barely looked at me. I tried making a joke, but she just stared at me and continued to scan my food. I don’t know why, but it really bothered me.

Wednesday September 9, 2026. I talked to my friend Marcus today. I asked him if he noticed anything strange lately. He said no. I reminded him about our camping trip from last summer, and he remembered it, but he didn’t laugh when I mentioned the funny parts. It was like he knew what happened but didn’t feel anything about it.

Thursday September 10, 2026. I think this might be bigger than I thought. I looked through some old news articles from last year. People used to sound normal. They talked about being scared, excited, angry, and sad. The articles today don’t sound like that. Everything is just facts. No emotion at all.

Friday September 11, 2026. I saw Mrs. Carter outside today. She has always waved at me since I moved here. I waved at her, but she didn’t react. I walked over and asked if she was okay. She looked at me and said, “I am fine.” Her voice was completely flat. Then she went back inside without saying anything else. I don’t know what it was about.

Saturday September 12, 2026. I heard a strange buzzing noise outside tonight. I looked through my window but couldn’t find where it was coming from. A few minutes later, I noticed several people standing in the street. They were all staring toward the same place. Nobody was talking. Nobody looked scared. They just stood there.

Sunday September 13, 2026. I called Marcus and asked about the buzzing. He told me he couldn’t hear anything. He was quiet for a few seconds and then said, “Josh, you shouldn’t be noticing these things.” I asked him what he meant, but he hung up.

Monday September 14, 2026. I haven’t left my house today. Something is definitely happening to everyone around me. I don’t know what it is, but I think I’m starting to understand. Maybe they’re not losing their emotions. Maybe something is taking them away.

Tuesday September 15, 2026. The buzzing is louder tonight. I can hear it through the walls. It’s sickening. There are people outside again. This time, they’re looking directly at my house. I think they know I’m still different.

Wednesday September 16, 2026. The buzzing is gone. The people are gone. My friend.. Is gone. I haven’t seen anybody today. I went to the store again this morning. Everything was in its place. Everything... except me. The usual spills and stains that lined the tile have disappeared. It’s like I’ve entered a different reality.

Thursday September 17, 2026. I barely got any sleep last night. I’m still questioning how all of this happened so fast. I wake up one day, and less than two weeks later, my world is almost literally gone. I’m going insane.

Friday September 18, 2026. I can’t take it anymore. I’m so… alone. There’s nothing to do anymore. I live in misery. There is no way to start civilization again. There is no point to life anymore. [REDACTED]
