Dolly Partonís Imagination Library: Book Distribution Program

7/26/2017 -- Inspired by her father’s inability to read or write, country music artist Dolly Parton created her Imagination Library, a book gifting program designed to foster a love of reading in children.

The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program was established in eastern Tennessee in 1995 by the Dollywood Foundation to ensure that every child would have books, regardless of his or her family’s income. Growing to an international program, it has now mailed more than 80 million free books to children.

This internationally successful book distribution program is now here in Lorain County!

Lorain Public Library System’s (LPLS) libraries are registration locations for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Families can register to receive one free book to be sent to their homes monthly for children from birth to 5 years old.

The books are provided by a grant from The Stocker Foundation, community partner donations, and The Foundation of the Lorain Public Library System, Inc.
