Neil's Wild Ride: The Flight of Gemini VIII

The 1966 flight of Gemini 8 near-catastrophic.  Neil Armstrong and David Scott, the crew of this mission, achieved a space first when they became the first astronauts to dock their spacecraft with another one in orbit. They also nearly became the first space fatalities when their spacecraft developed a malfunctioning thruster and began to spin wildly. The presentation will provide a description of the mission and the crisis which Neil Armstrong survived to become the first man on the moon.      Preregistration required.
