Released On: 4/9/2019

Lorain Public Library System (LPLS) announces Allyson Morgan as Manager of the South Branch.

“As a former South Lorain Branch Manager, this library is near and dear to my heart,” says LPLS Chief Operating Officer Cheryl Grizzell. “I am excited to welcome Ally to the community and for the passion and energy she will bring to her role as the local face of the library.”

Morgan joined LPLS as a Youth Services Librarian at the North Ridgeville Branch Library in 2016, presenting story times, brainstorming innovative programs for both children and teens and building a robust children's literature collection. “Every day that I spent at the North Ridgeville Branch, I witnessed the positive impact that libraries have on their communities,” says Morgan. “I am excited to use this experience to become part of the community in South Lorain and continue to provide a space that encourages engagement and life-long learning.”

Morgan’s passion for libraries began in 2011, when she worked as a student page and a circulation desk assistant at the William T. Jerome Library at Bowling Green State University. As an undergraduate student, she studied popular culture and art history and received her Bachelor of Arts from BGSU in 2014. While studying for her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University, which she received in 2016, she worked at the Westlake Porter Public Library gaining experience in the adult services department. She also volunteered at noted institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Eleanor Squire Library of the Cleveland Botanical Garden, and Case Western Reserve University's Dittrick Museum of Medical History.

Millie Torres, Lorain Public Library System Board of Trustee says: “with the activities and services being offered at South Lorain, it has become a special place for my grandchildren and I. We can’t wait to see what other activities are coming under Allyson Morgan’s leadership!”

Morgan grew up in Lorain County. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the local metro parks with her dog. She also enjoys baking, crafting, and boxing classes.
