LPLS New Hours

Released On: 1/1/2020

Get more LPLS in the new year as we offer extended, consistent hours across all six of our branches.

Beginning Jan. 6, all LPLS locations will open at 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday, an increase from our previous 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. opening times, depending on the branch.

“We did a survey and found that people really wanted to see morning hours,” Chief Executive Officer Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz said. “They also wanted Saturday hours that we weren’t offering, and we wanted to be able to have that convenience for patrons.”

Diamond-Ortiz said it’s not uncommon to see cars sitting in the parking lots of LPLS branches trying to print something or gain access to the wifi for job applications and government forms.

“We wanted to be able to have people in the doors when they need to be here,” she said.

In addition to earlier opening times, the branches will also stay open later across the system. All branches will now be open until 8 p.m. with Avon and North Ridgeville being open until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All branches will be open until 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“We heard from a lot of families that wanted us to have more hours on Saturdays and it gives us the chance to offer more programming,” Diamond-Ortiz said.

The new hours would be budget neutral for LPLS after a staffing study determined the new hours would be able to offer additional access to the branches without requiring additional staff members.

Diamond-Ortiz said the North Ridgeville and Columbia branch levies passed in 2019 gave LPLS the support and confidence it needed to move forward with these new hours and the result of the Avon Branch levy in March 2020 will not affect their hours.

“It really comes down to access,” she said. “And making sure that people are able to get the access when they need to.”
